As BlackBerry spyware continues to make news, an increasing amount of people are emailing me asking how to detect BlackBerry spyware. Here are the top five signs that you might have BlackBerry spy software installed on your BlackBerry.

• Can I Borrow Your BlackBerry? Someone has recently asked to borrow your BlackBerry phone in order to make a "private call" or to download a ringtone or something similar such as an app or game. (99.9% of all cell phone spyware requires a person to get physcial access to the cell phone in order to install the spy app.)

• How Much! Your text message bill has recently increased and you don't remember sending so many messages.  Another sign is that you notice an unusual increase in reported data traffic. BlackBerry spy software such as Flexispy & Mobile Spy use GPRS to transfer the collected data, which means if you are not the type who uses your BlackBerry to browse the web or to download games,a sudden spike in data usage is another sure sign you might have BlackBerry spy software installed.

• Battery Drain? Is your BlackBerry's battery life suddenly a lot shorter than the usual amount of hours? Depending on the type of BlackBerry spyware installed, your BlackBerry might experience a considerable amount of abnormal battery drain.

• Do You See Quick Flashes? Your  BlackBerry 'lights up' for no reason but doesn't ring.  Flexispy's PRO & PRO-X BlackBerry spy software  has a remote monitoring feature (spy call) which enables someone to secretly listen to your BlackBerry's surroundings.  When a spy call is made, the spy phone software  may briefly light up for a split second. If some (or all) of these warning signs sound familiar to you, then I highly recommend taking the time to either download a BlackBerry spyware detection and removal app (it's free!) or take your BlackBerry into your provider and have them reinstall the OS again.

Keep in mind that for a guy like me who has experience installing cell phone spyware, I only need two to three minutes to do a complete install. Once I'm done your BlackBerry is at my control. I can view your call history, read your text messages, email, track your location via GPS, secretly listen in on your surroundings, and listen in on your live calls.

Here is a video on cell phone spyware that demonstrates all the features of spyware that is available for cell phones, including the BlackBerry. I would like to point out that even though the cell phone used in this video is NOT a BlackBerry phone, all the spy phone features shown in this clip (text message interception, secretly viewing call logs, cell phone location tracking, & remote monitoring) are available for BlackBerry phones.

Anyone out there with an internet connection, and a credit card, can log onto a BlackBerry spyware vendor and purchase BlackBerry spyware for almost any BlackBerry device.  The only thing that can protect you from being a victim of BlackBerry spyware, is to keep your cell phone with you at all times. It only takes a few minutes to install spy phone software, so if a person who wants to spy on your cannot get access to your phone, there is no way they are going to be able to install spyware on your BlackBerry.

For those of you who want to spy on a BlackBerry, this is something you have to understand as well. Without physical access to the BlackBerry, there is absolutely no way you are going to install BlackBerry spyware on your target's BlackBerry cell phone.
